About the Group.

The photography group meets once a month (usually in the afternoon of the second Wednesday of the month) between October and June. The group alternates between theoretical sessions, sometimes with guest speakers, – technical and compositional issues – in Parkway; and practical field trips across local venues to put learning into practice. The group also organise in-house photography competitions. Recent highlights have included water droplet photography and using personal photographs to customize Christmas cards and calendars.

Visit to the Ulster Aviation Society.

A small group of members enjoyed a visit to the Ulster Aviation Society near Lisburn. 

We were shown round the two airport hangers by an extremely knowledgeable guide who had a wealth of information at his fingertips. 

For decades Northern Ireland played a very large part in the development of aviation both the design and building of various aircraft.  Many of the aircraft on display were gifted to the charity due to these very strong links across Northern Ireland at Nutts Corner, Ballykelly and Aldergrove.

We also viewed the radar navigation equipment room and the engine room where a guide with a background in motorbikes enthusiastically shared his knowledge. 

This society of over 300 volunteers have brought together a very varied selection of aircraft and despite the cold it was a very interesting visit.
